About this listen

In this week's episode I'm joined by Samantha Demers, who left an established career with the House of Commons of Canada to build a business with her husband and start her own personal brand on the side. For 4 years, she didn't post a single blog post, launch a podcast, or start writing a book because of impostor syndrome and not knowing her perfect niche.

Finally after getting tired of waiting, she started creating content online in March 2021. Since then, she's been steadily growing an online audience on Twitter, started writing her first book "The Creator's Guide to Overcoming Impostor Syndrome," leads a group of 150 aspiring creators in an accountability group and has hosted over 100 Twitter Spaces.

In the episode, Samantha talks about her need for a plan, a strategy and an outcome, all of which was preventing her from just getting started. From following what she thought was the dream career path, to navigating burnout to giving herself permission to pursue what truly fulfilled her, Samantha's journey is one that many of us can resonate with.

We discuss the paralysing effect of over-thinking, procrastination and perfectionism, and Samantha shares the steps that she took to not only overcome those obstacles but also to create a sustainable brand that helps others to do the same.
