【鳥居前・道行初音旅（みちゆきはつねのたび）・川連法眼館（かわつらほうげんやかた）】の場面。
源義経は壇ノ浦で平家を打ち滅ぼし大きな活躍をしましたが、兄の頼朝とのわだかまりが生じています。義経は戦での功績の褒美として、朝廷から「初音の鼓」（はつねのつづみ）と呼ばれる鼓を賜りました。この重宝の鼓は狐の皮で出来ています。鼓となった親狐を子狐が慕い、義経の家来の佐藤忠信に化けて登場するという奇想天外な物語のご紹介です。

今回ご紹介の3つの場面は、源九郎狐の伝説などを巧みに取り入れた、動物や人間の愛情が描かれた物語です。
『鳥居前』は原作の二段目の口にあたり、力強い荒事（あらごと）の技法を用いた狐の化身が登場致します。『道行初音旅』は通称『吉野山』と呼ばれる、華やかな場面で静御前と忠信の主従が義経の元へと向かう旅の様子を描いた舞踊として上演される場面です。『川連法眼館』は、四段目の切にあたるので、通称「四の切（しのきり）」として知られ、狐忠信が主役となる場面です。
