 Benny era uno che non mollava. Dopo avere imperato sulla scena musicale per tanti anni, si impegnò fino all'ultimo per divertire il pubblico con la sua musica e con il repertorio classico che tanto amava. Morì nel giugno dell'86 colto da un arresto cardiaco nella sua casa di New York, mentre stava studiando per il suo prossimo concerto.
