This week, we are talking about Tubi Originals Movies...
Admittedly, we were wary going into this, but Tubi is a mixed bag with some iconic, classic movies and some not-so-great things. This week, we picked out the Maori film "Muru" (also known as "The Raid") from 2022 and the drag queen vampire movie "Slay" from 2024. It is a pretty big tonal change between these two flicks, but they both offer some value. These are pretty underseen according to the stats, and while they might not necessarily be hidden gems, they certainly deserve a bit more of a following. From the gorgeous New Zealand scenery to the chaotic campiness in a biker bar, we break these movies apart and discuss the ins and outs of these Tubi movies.
Before we get too far into the main features, we discuss some of our recent watches, including Scarlett Johansson's feature debut, "Eleanor the Great", the new Stephen King adaptation, "The Long Walk", and Kogonada's "After Yang". Then, we also delved into a discussion on ads and their place in the digital world.
