Vamos agora falar dos anos entre 2005 e 2009, se no período anterior a MPB ganhou o seu primeiro Grammy nesse período Gilberto Gil trouxe mais um para solo brasileiro. O período também marcou dois aniversários de 40 anos, o do importante 'Festival de 1967', realizado pela TV Record, e do lançamento do álbum que marcou o inicio do Tropicalismo, "Tropicália ou Panis Et Circens".
Não só de passado viveu esse período, a cantora Céu lançou o disco "Vagarosa" e deu inicio a lista de artistas que viriam a ser rotulados de "Nova MPB".
