About this listen
The war in Syria has left more than 380,000 people dead, devastated cities and drawn in other countries. Half of Syria's pre-war population of 22 million have fled their homes. Some 6.7 million are internally displaced, many living in camps, while another 5.6 million are registered as refugees abroad. As well as causing hundreds of thousands of deaths, more than 2.1 million civilians have suffered injuries or permanent disabilities as a result of the conflict, according to the SOHR. Today, I am speaking first-hand to someone who has experienced the atrocities in Syria. He is here with me today on the podcast to share some of his stories to highlight the impact of this civil war on his country, his people, and future generations.
