Este es uno de los momentos más crudos, intensos y honestos del libro de Jueces. Israel vuelve a caer en idolatría, vuelve a ser oprimido, y vuelve a clamar. Es el estribillo repetido del libro: “E Israel clamó a Jehová.” Pero esta vez, la respuesta de Dios no es inmediata. Dios les recuerda su historial de rescates: Egipto, Amón, Filistea, Amalec… una lista de liberaciones pasadas. Luego viene la frase sorprendente:
“No os libraré más.” No porque Dios no quiera… sino porque Israel había estado usando la oración como último recurso, no como comunión diaria.
