El 5-Meo-DMT es un alucinógeno “primo” del DMT, se encuentra en las secreciones del SAPO BUFO ALVARIUS. Muchas especies de sapos bufos del genero incilius producen Bufoteina que es 5-Ho-DMT, pero el Sapo Bufo Alvarius (sapo del rio colorado) es el único sapo que produce 5-Meo-DMT. Este potente alucinógeno también se encuentra en plantas como la Dictyoloma Vandellianum (Virola), la Anadenthera Columbrina y la Anadenthera Peregrina (Yopo de los Andes).
El consumo del 5-Meo-DMT se realiza dentro del ritual místico del Sapo Bufo, que data de hace unos de 4000 años.
