Vor genau 50 Jahren wurde ein ausführlicher „Bericht über die Lage der Psychiatrie in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland“ fertiggestellt auch bekannt als Psychiatrie Enquete. Die katastrophalen Zustände der Versorgung psychisch kranker Menschen in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland waren aufgedeckt worden und der Abschlussbericht von 1975 formulierte umfassende Empfehlungen für eine menschenwürdige und sozial orientierte Psychiatrie und löste damit eine landesweite Reformbewegung aus. Dabei hat Dr. Helmut Sörgel maßgeblich mitgewirkt
