Hello and welcome the 2025 Does It Adapt recap! We had a variable year of different adaptions to look into. Some were continuation of stories we already covered and others were whole sub genres. We tackled everything from DC comics to anime! However, with new changes on the horizon for so many things we covered, do we still believe they can be adapted well? So was this year a woeful and worrisome wonder that whisked us away to a wintery grave of adaptions? Or like the phoenix, will 2026 rise from the ashes and give us the adaptions we truly want?

This month we take a different approach to adaptations by looking into how an author has adapted one genre into his own style! Author Jonathan Maberry has taken to writing his takes on the world of H.P. Lovecraft and cosmic horror! With books like Kagen the Damned and Necrotek, this author has brought a new spin onto this genre. He even has followed in the steps of past Lovecraftian writers and published through Weird Tales Magazine as well as become editor for the publication! So will Jonathan show us the frightful and freakish fathoms of frequently feared underwater cities? Or will he give us a story that truly makes us go insane?

Hello and welcome to this month's Does It Adapt! This time, we are exploring a world of animated arcs and absolutely amazing action with anime! Shows like One Piece and Yu Yu Hakasho have came into then limelight. Many different animes have been adapted to the silver screen but not all have been as successful as their 2D counterparts. Considering these shows are based of the illustrated medium of Manga, one would hope that these stories would be given the best treatment once made into real life. However, that's not always the case. So will these live action versions of these cartoonish, crafted creations become credible? Or will these shows have their names written in the Death Note?
