About this listen

We’d like to introduce you to a new podcast. It’s called Different. But why different?

You know how when you’re wearing sunglasses it puts a tint on everything? Or if you wear glasses you see some things in focus and others out of focus?

Well, we all have lenses on the inside of our head too. And they tint, colour and shape everything we see, think and understand.

So, on this podcast Steve Chalke and Jill Rowe are going to dive headlong into just that as they discover a new ‘meaning making’ story and embrace a fresh way of thinking about life, the universe and everything in-between.

They will talk about getting to a place where we see our lives as part of something bigger than our day-to-day experience - becoming a part of an unfolding story. Finding joy in ordinary moments, facing failure and struggle and discovering liberation and purpose.

They’ll also discuss experiencing life as a gift and learning how to live on purpose. They’ll be peering into dark nights of the soul and finding hope. And simply learning how we are here to walk each home.

We hope you enjoy these conversations – discovering a new story and embracing new thinking.

  • Digging deeper into resilience
    Feb 4 2026

In this episode of the Different podcast, Jill Rowe talks with Steve Chalke about resilience. They uncover that resilience can be good and bad and can take many forms. So what ultimately matters are the values and beliefs that our resilience is rooted in.

Ultimately, they can't discuss resilience without talking about our motives that are driving us, they think through what our resilience will look like if it's founded on loving God and loving others as ourselves.

And in the desire to serve and to give, they recognise that this kind of resilience doesn't just happen, we build it over time through leaning into the struggle and complexity of life.

This was such an energising and joyous conversation.

  • Becoming a trusted person
    Jan 21 2026

In this episode of the Different podcast, Jill Rowe talks with Steve Chalke about how to become a person who is trusted by others. Trust takes a long time and it's all built on the foundation of good relationship.

They explore how trust is like money in the bank that we accrue and can spend. And most significantly, they recognise that becoming a trustworthy person means means being authentic, doing what we say we will do, being rooted and motivated by values centred on love and goodness and never self interest.

Trust is sacred and needs to be handled accordingly. The purpose of trust is to see goodness come in the world.

  • It’s a New Year!
    Jan 7 2026

In this episode of the Different podcast, Jill Rowe talks with Steve Chalke about beginning a new year. Instead of resolutions, they think about setting goals, about what they will do and how they will be.

They explore how vital intention is and how they can enjoy the gift of each day so that they live life so well, with depth and faith and hope and love. So this day, how might they use it? How will they be intentional?

As we approach the new year together, let's embrace the teacher that disruption is helping us to grow in who we are and what we do so that we can together bring more love to the world.
