About this listen

We’d like to introduce you to a new podcast. It’s called Different. But why different?

You know how when you’re wearing sunglasses it puts a tint on everything? Or if you wear glasses you see some things in focus and others out of focus?

Well, we all have lenses on the inside of our head too. And they tint, colour and shape everything we see, think and understand.

So, on this podcast Steve Chalke and Jill Rowe are going to dive headlong into just that as they discover a new ‘meaning making’ story and embrace a fresh way of thinking about life, the universe and everything in-between.

They will talk about getting to a place where we see our lives as part of something bigger than our day-to-day experience - becoming a part of an unfolding story. Finding joy in ordinary moments, facing failure and struggle and discovering liberation and purpose.

They’ll also discuss experiencing life as a gift and learning how to live on purpose. They’ll be peering into dark nights of the soul and finding hope. And simply learning how we are here to walk each home.

We hope you enjoy these conversations – discovering a new story and embracing new thinking.

  • Beauty from brokenness
    Oct 15 2025

In this episode of the Different podcast, Jill Rowe talks with Steve Chalke all about how we can create beauty out of brokenness. Together, they explore the philosophy held within the art of kintsugi.

And they recognise that we can often live life pursuing perfection, desperate for a life without scars. And we can have an insatiable appetite for both being and looking perfect. Yet by changing our way of seeing and believing and having the courage and humility to learn through and from our scars and broken parts, we can be transformed, making us better. Not bitter.

This is a precious episode. We pray it helps you to keep on your journey of growth and goodness.

  • Honesty, Trust, and the Stockdale Paradox
    Oct 1 2025

In this episode of the Different podcast, Jill Rowe talks with Steve Chalke all about the power of trust and the need for honesty. They begin, though, with love and discuss how this is the foundation to it all.

They chat about the importance of intent and motivation when honesty is at play and genuinely wanting the best for others. We owe it to people to be honest with them. Whether it's at work, home.

Marriage, relationships, friendships, honesty and trust really matter. They talk about the Stockdale Paradox and see that it is through being honest that we are able to become our better selves and grow trust, too.

We pray this episode is helpful to you.

  • Never stop learning
    Sep 17 2025

In this episode of the Different podcast, Jill Rowe talks with Steve Chalke all about learning. We discuss how learning needs to be deep and goes far beyond just remembering facts. We all need to grow wisdom, too.

We talk about the richness of neurodiversity rather than neuroformity. And we see the wonder and necessity of the invitation to all of us to go deeper and deeper in our learning for the sake of both ourselves and the world around us.
