Der Trend zum digitalen Bezahlen führt zu massiven Umbrüchen in unserem Geldsystem. Er geht einher mit einer Verschiebung von "öffentlichem Bargeld" hin zu "privatem Buchgeld". Eine Machtverschiebung, der die Europäische Zentralbank entgegenwirken möchte. Mit dem digitalen Euro will sie eine staatlich gesicherte Bezahlalternative schaffen, die sicher und für alle zugänglich ist. Ein Bezahlsystem, das uns als Bürgerinnen und Bürger adressiert und nicht als Konsumentinnen und Konsumenten. Damit will die Zentralbank Souveränität zurückgewinnen - gegenüber ausländischen Technologiekonzernen und externen Zahlungsanbietern.
