 Wer den Namen "Faure" im Zusammenhang mit Musik liest, denkt wohl zunächst an den Komponisten Gabriel Fauré. Dass dieser einen Zeitgenossen ähnlichen Namens hatte, Jean-Baptiste Faure (1830-1914), der Sänger war, jedoch auch komponierte, ist den wenigsten bekannt. Er vertonte unter anderem ein Gedicht seines berühmten Landsmannes Victor Hugo, und mit diesem Lied, welches Fragen nach der Bedeutung der Figur des Kreuzes und dem Bild eines lächelnden Gottes aufwirft, beschäftigt sich Prof. Dr. Dirk Rustemeyer.
