About this listen

A podcast for the bold, the visionary, and the unconventionally creative. Unshackle your truest self to reveal The Big Why that fuels your best life, work, and impact. Do the deep inner work that is fundamental to being a progressive founder, creative, or artist. Imagine a world where success isn’t measured by conventional metrics but by creativity, passion, and human impact. That world starts with us! Let's lead the change. I publish one to two soul-led, passion-fed interviews a month with an everyday founder, creative, or artist. While I do have my eye on two famous household names, the vast majority of my interviews are with people just like you. Now more than ever, our world needs more outliers, weirdos, rule-breakers, and visionaries whose creative minds and bold work shatter the numbness of the status quo.Bobby Ford Personal Development Personal Success Social Sciences

  • The Big Why With Feminist Artist Klaire Lockheart
    May 3 2025

“I should probably confess that I’m three raccoons in a trench coat. It just so happens that one of those raccoons knows how to paint” was feminist artist Klaire Klaire Lockheart’s response to what she did for a living. She offered this response wearing a Teenage Mutant Ninjas t-shirt (which also appears in one of her works), and a plastic chainsaw at the ready. To say this recipient of the prestigious Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant was a blast to hangout with is massive understatement.

While the banter and humor is nonstop, soul-fed themes appeared that will speak to any artist or creative hungry to own their voice. Early on what stuck with me was her passion for her “chosen family” of artists and her husband, Aaron Packard (an incredible photographer). It speaks to the agency we all have to restory our existence in a way that supports our sense of self, our passion projects and life. It’s a beautiful moment, one of many, from the podcast.

On Frida Kahlo’s piece “The Two Fridas” Klaire notes, “She’s from a different time, a different location, a different culture, and different language, but I can still look at that painting, and feel like I get her.” Lockheart’s bone-deep passion for how people and artists express their humanity is central to her work. It’s a consistent theme throughout our chat.

At the core of it all is Klaire’s passion for “leaning into” her rights, voice, and value as a woman, a passion she also also has for the marginalized voices of the world. It’s one hell of an interview! I even impersonate a grandma taking Klaire’s selfie, and we discuss our need for a satirical film that puts the Kardashians in Star Trek. What’s not to love?

  • The Big Why With Laurence McCahill Interview / The Happy Startup School
    Apr 19 2025

“Cheers, it’s a privilege to be here.” Laurence McCahill’s response to my appreciation for the interview, but really, it’s his life philosophy. From his early days as a designer and agency co-owner to becoming the co-founder of The Happy Startup School, his vibe is curious, seeking, and available. And that’s not even getting into his colorful origin story!

Join us for a non-GMO chat that gets to the humanity of it all. In this heartfelt episode, we explore growing up in the pubs of London, connecting with nature to access your creative mojo, and leveling the playfield (to include with ourselves) so everyone has a seat at the table.

This is an episode rich with stories about playing music, world travel, the influence of cultural diversity, and a dance with death that forever changed his perspective on life. Our banter is a meaningful glimpse of Laurence’s humanity long before his agency and Happy Startup days. Join us for the bard’s tale of a proper Irish Bohemian with hints of Nick Cave. A man who loves deeply, most of all his family. A true visionary who, along with his business partner, Dr. Carlos Saba, went on to build the wildly successful Happy Startup School.

What I most cherish when sitting down with people for a long chat are the things they’ve learned along the way. That’s where the gold is, and Mr. McCahill has plenty to offer. One story had me close to tears, which I’ll let the episode tell. It involved lifting a person up, both emotionally and physically. Lucky for us, that moment was captured by the stunning photograph below, shot by Becky Rui.

So, grab a lovely cup of tea and sink into your favorite nook for this soul-led conversation free of gurus. Just two dudes hanging out and talking about the texture, moments, trials, and magic that is the creative life.

  • From Intense Anxiety To Unstoppable Creative Confidence
    Apr 15 2025

What if the very thing you think is “too much” about you... is actually your greatest creative power?

In this intimate episode, we explore the misunderstood dance between anxiety and creative genius, and how moments of panic, doubt, and emotional overwhelm can become the flashpoints from which our most authentic, resonant work is born. If you're a visionary coach, soulful content creator, purpose-driven founder, or an artist with a mission, you’ve likely felt this paradox. You burn with ideas, passion, and purpose, but that same fire can leave you breathless, second-guessing, and spinning.

    > You’re not broken.
    > You're not too much.
    > You’re not alone.

Your anxiety isn’t an obstacle to your creative confidence, it’s a crucial part of the recipe.

We’re flipping the script on the myth that you must be “fixed” to be successful. Instead, we uncover how to collaborate with your inner chaos to harness the depth of your emotions to transmute your rawest fears into creative gold. This episode isn’t about avoiding the breakdown moments—it’s about honoring them as the birthplace of your boldest expressions and work.

Inside this 20-minute journey, you’ll hear:

    * Why intense emotions often signal you're on the brink of something creatively extraordinary

    * How self-doubt is not a weakness but a marker of depth, soul, and real human stakes

    * A reframing of anxiety as a sacred part of the creative process, not a flaw to fix

    * How to find unstoppable creative confidence not despite your complexity—but because of it

Whether you design, coach, lead, write, teach, or perform—this episode is for anyone who creates from the heart and sometimes feels like they’re drowning in it. This is a love letter to the creatives who feel everything deeply. To the coaches who carry others' transformations in their bones. To the soul-led brands who are here to do more than just grow—but to matter.

If you’ve ever asked, What’s wrong with me?—this episode gently and powerfully answers: Nothing. You’re exactly who you need to be to do the work you were born to do.

Your brilliance isn’t in spite of your inner fire. It is the fire.

    Tune in now.
