  • Episode 7: Hearing is a State of Mind

  • Episode 6: Perceptions - Arab Jews and Black Asians

    Episode 6 was recorded the same day as Episode 5. We began this session reading Ella Shohat's On the Arab-Jew, Palestine, and Other Displacements: Selected Writings. Many of us discussed multifaceted identity and what it means to be mixed race or belong to an ethnicity that does not fit neatly into stereotypical colonial or politicised categories and agendas.

  • Episode 5: Hope/ Palestine

    Episode 5 saw artists gathering in the kitchen, the heating was broken, we gravitated to the warmest room in the building. It provided its own politics. In this episode we read through Sara Ahmed's Cultural Politics of Emotion and the word 'Hope' immediately took us on a journey embracing current political feelings as well as hope for a free Palestine.

  • Episode 4: Introduction, Nottingham

    Episode 4 is an introduction to the artists who we part of the dinners at Primary. This the first dinner in Nottingham and the first time some of the artists had met each other. Primary was a much larger space, the room was echoey, tall, ironically - an old primary school canteen. Everyone was spaced around the table. Artists in this session were encouraged to think about artworks and objects that have significance to them or their practice.

    Episode 1 is an introduction to the artists who were part of the dinners at GLOAM Gallery. This the first dinner and the first time the artists had met each other. Gloam was an intimate space no bigger than an average front room, everyone was squashed around the table. Artists in this session were encouraged to think about people in their lives who have shaped them and brought in photographs to share.
