  • Midwest Pastry Bake-off: Kolaches vs Kringles vs Krumkake
    May 2 2026

Early May has always been a hallowed time for the Connect More boys because it's a season of celebration. First it was Ruben's legendary Mother's Day parties (all you muthas show up) and later the epic Cinco de Mayo fiestas featuring live music from Iowa's best bands (Dave Zollo, Matt Woods), costumes, margaritas, and a zillion laughs. Come join the fun!

We have a lively discussion about who has the best voice in rock 'n roll. Who has the best range? Who belts it out with power and heart? Who has the raw emotion and strength that makes you come back for more? Freddie Mercury, Brian Johnson, and Corey Glover all get shout-outs. Shit, Bonnie Tyler even gets some props! Who do you think has the best pipes in rock n' roll? Sound off in the comments!

In the Midwest we LOVE a good pastry, so we review a wide range of goodies, many brought by the Czechs and Norwegians who settled eastern Iowa. Ween was pretty animated about this topic and reveals the types of cooking irons he owns to make these pastries and how to get the ingredients. You know the Krumkake and Lefse will be good because he gets the mix at Fleet Farm!

It's Kentucky Derby time, so the fellas do some handicapping on their picks to win the 2026 race. Jax couldn't care less, but Hedge, Joco, and Ween get pretty excited about their picks and have more insights about who might win than "it was a cool name." Always bet on the grey one, Jimmy. Always bet on the grey.

  • SHORTIE! "Fruit We Hate" was the topic we couldn't handle?? Didn't see that coming.
    Apr 25 2026

Hoo, boy. Guaranteed our PRUducer didn't see this hot mess coming when she asked us: "What is the worst fruit of all time?" You might say to yourself, "That seems like an innocent question. What could go wrong?" Take a listen to this shortie and you'll find out. Thankfully it's pretty brief. You'll be done listening before John picks all the seeds out of his kiwi fruit.

  • Grab the Popcorn! Movies at home, or go to the theater?
    Apr 18 2026

In Iowa we have lots of weird brags. Stand out on the porch to watch a tornado passing by. Grow the biggest zucchini. And who has hit the most deer with our cars. Several of the boys have mostly avoided this calamity, but it's certainly a terrifying and expensive right of passage.

True to our GenX sensibilities, we have an affinity for actually going to the theater to see movies, even in the streaming age. But in keeping with our GenX tendencies, we also have lots of problems with the modern theater-going experience. How about you - go to the theater or stay at home?

You might also expect that we have some insightful observations and plenty of complaints about working from home vs. going into the office. Working from home was certainly not a 'thing' for most of our lives, so how have we adapted? What tips do we have for the youngsters who may not understand that going into the office has some benefits?

Hang in there - we're almost done! For the whiparound we argue about what single food we'd pick if we were trapped on an island. And, yes, John's pick is something that a 10 year-old would choose. Don't worry - it's more interesting than it sounds!!
