Vercingétorix naît vers l’an 80 avant J.-C. chez les Arvernes, un peuple gaulois. À une époque où la Gaule est divisée, il parvient à unir plusieurs tribus contre les Romains de Jules César. En 52 avant J.-C., il remporte une victoire à Gergovie grâce à une stratégie rusée, mais il est finalement encerclé à Alésia. Pour sauver son peuple affamé, il se rend. Emmené à Rome, il est exécuté des années plus tard. Même s’il perd la guerre, Vercingétorix reste un symbole de courage, d’unité et de résistance pour la Gaule.
