She is a Senior Scientist with the Toronto General Hospital Research Institute and the Cancer Care Research Unit with the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. Dr. Olivieri's research focuses on blood disorders: sickle cell disease and thalassemia.

Dr. Straus is recognized for her commitment to excellence in mentorship, impactful research, and knowledge translation.

In addition to completing of his residency in Public Health and Preventive Medicine, he also completed his Masters in Public Health at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and his PhD in Health Research Methods at McMaster University.
