About this listen

The COMMON MAN COMMENTARY PODCAST: created by a common man for common men and women seeking to know more about Jesus, God with us.The purpose for this podcast is to explore the bible in a way that will help everyone to understand it a little better. The primary focus will be on the first four books of the New Testament called the Gospels. They are the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. These four books contain the story of Jesus. His way of living life and teachings are all right there. The clearest picture of God the world has ever had is contained in the words within these four books. Jesus said : When you have seen me, you have seen the Father! It’s my belief that if you have an accurate view and understanding of Jesus, the face of God to us, you will fall in love with Him and be transformed into the truest, best and most human version of yourself. You will become like Him! We are all on this journey together in one way or another and I hope you will join me in this discovery of Jesus. God with Us.© 2023 Common Man Commentary Podcast Spirituality

  • CMC Eps 23 - Mark 3:7-12 " You Are The Son Of God "
    Mar 6 2021

What does that mean, You are The Son of God ?

“Jesus withdrew with his disciples to the sea, and a great crowd followed, from Galilee and Judea and Jerusalem and Idumea and from beyond the Jordan and from around Tyre and Sidon. When the great crowd heard all that he was doing, they came to him. And he told his disciples to have a boat ready for him because of the crowd, lest they crush him, for he had healed many, so that all who had diseases pressed around him to touch him. And whenever the unclean spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, “You are the Son of God.” And he strictly ordered them not to make him known.”

  • CMC Eps 22 - Matthew 17:24-27 " Identity "
    Feb 13 2021

Identity.  I have been told that there are two extremely important questions :  Who is God and who am I ?  Jesus sends Peter to the lake.. to ponder these profound questions.

Matthew 17:24-27  : "When they came to Capernaum, the collectors of the two-drachma tax went up to Peter and said, “Does your teacher not pay the tax?”  He said, “Yes.” And when he came into the house, Jesus spoke to him first, saying, “What do you think, Simon? From whom do kings of the earth take toll or tax? From their sons or from others?”  And when he said, “From others,” Jesus said to him, “Then the sons are free.  However, not to give offense to them, go to the sea and cast a hook and take the first fish that comes up, and when you open its mouth you will find a shekel. Take that and give it to them for me and for yourself.”

  • CMC Eps 21 - Mark 2:1-12 " He Called Him Son "
    Jan 25 2021

As people, we pay very close attention to how we are greeted and introduced when we meet someone new to us. If someone remembers your name it makes us feel known and happy.  If they stammer or even worse call you by the wrong name, everybody is embarrassed.  In this text, Jesus says something that startles everyone in the room.  Jesus meets and greets a total stranger in the most peculiar way,  He calls him, Son.  This podcast is about Mark chapter 2 verses 1 through 12.  Four ambitious friends lower a paralytic man through a roof in an attempt to get him healed.  He gets a lot more than he bargained for and we get a clearer picture of who God really is.
