Dienstag, 10. März 1925. Der Journalist Hugo Bettauer betritt seine Redaktion in der Wiener Josefstadt. Ein junger Mann, Otto Rothstock (21 Jahre), wartet dort bereits auf ihn. Rothstock zieht eine Pistole und schießt - fünf Mal.
Hugo Bettauer wird schwer verletzt, überlebt aber. Im Krankenhaus gibt er seine Aussage zu Protokoll. Am 25. März erliegt er seinen Verletzungen.
Was waren die Motive für das Attentat? Wie konnte es dazu kommen? Die polizeilichen Ermittlungen sind bald abgeschlossen.
