About this listen

On a desolate Orkney evening, Victor reflects on the horror of creating a female companion before seeing the Creature at his window. In a surge of resolve, he destroys his half‑finished work. The Creature confronts him and vows to be with him on his wedding night before fleeing by boat. Haunted, Victor spends a restless night, then disposes of the remains at sea. A rising wind drives his skiff to an Irish coast, where initial relief turns to dread as townspeople accuse him of murder and march him to the magistrate, Mr. Kirwin.
