About this listen

Frederick Fisher was a Private in the Virginia militia and participant in the Battle of King's Mountain. He fought for the nation's independence, and he eventually found his way to what would become Marshall County. His service and dedication would be remembered in late 2024 during a grave marking ceremony by chapters of the SAR. The MCHS History Club was invited to attend this grave marking. Join us in this episode of the Book of Marshall as Jainil Patel, Cayson Evors, Kinsey Bass, Darien Griffis-Luna tell the story of Frederick Fisher's life and service. Clark Rose, the Graves Committee Chair for the Lt. Andrew Crockett Chapter of the SAR, joined us to detail how the SAR puts together a grave marking ceremony. Finally, History Club members Johntavia Cross, Caroline McNutt, Abigail Haley, and Cathryne Burrahm discuss their experience and takeaways from attending the ceremony, including why it's important to keep these local history moments alive.
