Né en 1952, Pierre Magistretti est docteur en médecine de l'Université de Genève et professeur de neurosciences. Codirecteur du Brain Mind Institute de l'Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), il est également, directeur du Centre de Neurosciences Psychiatriques du Département Universitaire de Psychiatrie du CHUV, Université de Lausanne. Il a été professeur invité sur la chaire annuelle Internationale du Collège de France durant l'année 2007-2008. Créée en 1992, la chaire annuelle Internationale (1992-2008) est destinée à accueillir, pour une année académique, une personnalité scientifique originaire d'un pays de l'Europe de l'Est ou appartenant à un autre continent.
