《圣经》还告诉我们，“这样看来，我以内心顺服神的律，我肉体却顺服罪的律了。”那些就是统治我们的律法。虽然我们的心热爱神，热爱真理，但肉体侍奉罪孽的律是很自然的。神的道告诉我们，我们的心顺服了福音和神的义，但肉体却只顺服罪的律。
你知道什么是罪的律吗？我们希望过诚信的生活，所以我们作为圣徒和神的仆人在肉体没有顺服罪孽时就会胆大如同狮子。但如果我们的肉体顺从罪孽，纵容罪孽时我们就不会有能力。我们会想如果不再犯罪就会感到幸福，并充满勇气，但事实上我们不具备不再犯罪的信心。为此圣徒和神的仆人的心在畏缩。
