Kita membaca di dalam Matius pasal 5, ayat 1-7 bahwa Yesus berbicara kepada murid-murid-Nya dan kepada kita. Orang-orang Kristen sudah menyebut pengajaran ini ‘Khotbah di Bukit’ karena Yesus berbicara mengenai hal-hal ini di atas sebuah bukit.
Pertama-tama, kalau kita melihat kepada Alkitab dari Matius pasal 5 ayat 3, Yesus mengatakan, “Berbahagialah orang yang miskin di hadapan Allah, karena merekalah yang empunya Kerajaan Sorga.” Yang dimaksudkan Tuhan ketika mengatakan “berbahagialah orang yang miskin” adalah bahwa Dia memberikan Surga kepada mereka yang miskin di hadapan Allah(Jahweh).
