使徒约翰在约翰一书 5:4-8中说能胜过世界的信仰就在于相信藉水和血而来的耶稣基督为救世主。耶稣基督来到世上“不是单用水，乃是用水又用血。”约翰在这里明确地说水和圣灵的福音是主牺牲他自己的身体后成就的惟一真福音。
