حتى بينما مسيحيي اليومِ يُصرّحونَ أَنْهم يَثقوا بيسوع كمنقذهم، العديد منهم لا يَعْرفونَ بأنّ يسوع هو الرب الذي قد خْلصنا من كل آثامنا خلال إنجيلِ الماءِ والرّوحِ. إنه إذن من الضروري أَنْ نُبرهنَ لهم، بإنجيلِ الماءِ والرّوحِ هذا، أن يسوع حقاً هو منقذهم. ولكي كل المولودين كمذنبين، يغَتسلَوا من كل آثامهم، كلهم يَجِبُ أَنْ يَثقَوا بإنجيلِ الماءِ والرّوح. بكلمات أخرى، ليكونوا مولودين ثانية، هم يَجِبُ أَنْ يَثقوا بإنجيلِ الماءِ والرّوح، وفقط عندما يؤمنوا هكذا يُمكنُ أَنْ يُقابلوا الرب. سواء أم لا نحن يُمكنُ أَنْ ننال مغفرة آثامنا وولادتنا ثانية تعتمد على سواء أم لا نَعْرفُ ونَثقُ بيسوع المسيح بشكل صحيح.
