我知道你和我都為欲望而奮鬥。雅各書4:1寫道:“你們中間的爭戰鬥毆是從哪里來的呢？不是從你們自體中戰鬥之私欲來的嗎？”聖經在約翰一書中把私欲說成肉體的情欲、眼目的情欲和今生的驕傲。
事實上，是因為這三種私欲我們才需要為信仰生活奮鬥，才常常被世俗的事情絆倒。因為肉體的情欲、眼目的情欲和今生的驕傲，我們的信仰生活常常被中斷，雖然我們已得救。看到發生這種事情，我很傷心。
聖經常常告誡我們要等待我們主返回的那一天，要堅持到那一天，雅各書5:7說：“弟兄們哪，你們要忍耐，直到主來。”就像聖經告訴我們的那樣，我相信我們必須獻身傳播水和聖靈福音的事業，把這項珍貴的事業堅持到最後，直到那日到來。
