Вірш 1: «До Ангола Церкви в Ефесі напиши: Оце каже Той, Хто тримає сім зір у правиці Своїй, Хто ходить серед семи свічників золотих».
Церква в Ефесі була Божою церквою, що виросла з вірою в євангеліє води та Духа, яке проповідував Павло. «Сім золотих свічників» в цьому уривку позначають Божі церкви, зібрання тих, котрі вірять в євангеліє води та Духа, а «сім зір» означають Божих слуг. Фраза «той, Хто тримає сім зір у правиці Своїй», з іншого боку, означає, що Сам Бог скріплює і провадить Своїх слуг.
