Jean 1:6-7 dit: «Il y eut un homme envoyé de Dieu: son nom était Jean. Il vint pour servir de témoin, pour rendre témoignage à la lumière, afin que tous crussent par lui.» Ici dans ce passage, le ‘Jean’ n’est pas l’auteur de l’évangile de Jean, l’apôtre, mais Jean le Baptiste qui était l’Elie à venir promis par Dieu. Comme prophétisé dans Malachie 4:5, nous pouvons comprendre comment Jean-Baptiste a témoigné de l’évangile de Vérité.
