要理解約翰一書，我們大家必須首先正確地認識耶穌，他自己是神。我們大家必須牢固地堅守這信仰的磐石，真正知道和信仰耶穌基督是神。必須知道和信仰耶穌神作為我們的救世主，這意味著我們應知道他是創造我們的神。對於我們大家而言，耶穌基督實質上就是造物主和我們完美的救世主。對於父神而言，耶穌是他惟一的愛子，而對於我們來說，他已成了我們真正的救世主。當我們大家都知道耶穌基督是神時，我們才能遇見拯救之真光，並且信仰它。
