迦拉太书第5章1节说“基督释放了我们，叫我们得以自由。所以要站立得稳，不要再被奴仆的轭挟制。”这段经文告诉我们不要在身体上领受把我们变成罪人的割礼，因为耶稣基督已经来到世上把我们拯救出罪孽。我们的主藉水和圣灵的福音把我们拯救出天下的罪孽，使我们成了神的子女。实际上主已经把真得救和真自由赐予那些信仰水和圣灵福音的人。
主赐予我们的水和圣灵福音足以使我们成为神的子女，因为它使我们脱离罪孽的诅咒，不做神的仆人，不受罪孽的束缚。确实，神已赐予我们对水和圣灵福音的信仰，叫我们活在赐福里。所以，我们真正信仰这美丽的福音，作为神的子女活着。所以保罗告诉我们大家要坚定地信仰水和圣灵的福音，不要再被奴仆的轭挟制。换句话说，他告诉我们决不可再受任何行为或习惯的束缚，因为我们信仰水和圣灵的福音已从罪孽中得救。
