使徒保罗说虽然所有的圣徒和牧师都是神的后嗣，将继承他的国，但他们生活在世上时，与奴仆毫无分别，仍暂时在管家的手下，所以他们暂时受管于世俗的小学。他说:“虽然你们作为奴仆暂时生活在这个世上，但你们不应忘记自己是神的儿子，能继承父神的所有财富。”当时这教训只晓谕神的仆人和他的全体百姓，但现在也告诉了我们。
为了使我们做神的儿女，父神使我们生在律法下。然后他在律法下差来耶稣基督，用耶稣基督身体的工价赎回我们。于是，神使我们这些信仰真理的人有了他自己的儿子和女儿的名份。圣灵来到我们重生人的心里，使我们能够称神为我们的阿爸，父。
