Dios, a través de la boca de los profetas, nos ha prometido que llegará el día en que establecerá un reino de justicia, donde Él mismo gobernará. Dios también ha prometido que un día limpiará a los hombres del mal y les traerá la salvación del pecado.
Los profetas prometieron más que eso. Ellos revelaron que Dios enviaría a un hombre a este mundo que, primero, sería un Salvador de los pecados, y luego, más tarde, vendría nuevamente como un rey y un juez. El nombre que le dieron a este Salvador, rey, juez venidero fue «Mesías», y las profecías concernientes a Él, se dieron mucho antes del nacimiento de Jesús, el «Cristo».
