About this listen
Trataka is a concentration practice. The word translates as 'steady gazing' i.e. placing your gaze on an object of focus. In the early stages, the object is external, such as a candle flame or an image. In the later stages the object becomes an inner representation, visualised in the mind.
The entire practice of trataka has three main stages, leading from the outer to the inner:
1. Outer trataka
2. Outer and inner trataka combined
3. Inner trataka
The practice shared here is a 15-minute guided inner trataka meditation, using the image of a candle flame.
