JK Rowling often gets vilified for her beliefs, especially regarding the transgender community. However, everyone should have the fundamental right to express their thoughts on societal issues and be able to embrace their values. Quiet often, the cancel culture extends beyond democracy and instead intent on destroying lives because an opinion doesn't conform to others' doctrines. Suppose we don't speak up on basic principles of life, allowing others to define the parameters of what's considered normal and acceptable. In that case, we forgo our rights to free speech and independent thought, which would likely affect future generations.
