Two friends. One week in the Canadian Rockies. A blizzard that hits like a wall of white. When Aaron and the narrator find shelter in an abandoned cabin, they think they're safe. But something has been circling them since day one. Something that doesn't hunt like an animal—it hunts with patience, with intelligence, with hunger that's been building for centuries. Aaron dies slowly. Methodically. The thing eats specific organs—heart, brain, liver—and scatters the rest like garbage. The narrator watches. Can't move. Can't help. Can only witness his best friend being taken apart piece by piece. He escapes. Barely. Returns to civilization broken. The official report says bear attack. But bears don't eat that way. Welcome back to Carman's Crypt, where the shadows breathe and the familiar becomes fatal.

Tonight's tale takes us deep into the Cascade backcountry, where Charlie Webb has escaped to heal from a life that shattered around him. Forty miles from the nearest road, he discovers a perfect clearing—wildflowers, a babbling creek, ancient pines standing guard. The kind of place that makes you believe in something larger than yourself.

But Charlie notices something wrong with one of the trees. A massive pine at the meadow's edge, its branches reaching in shapes that seem almost... deliberate. He marks it with orange spray paint—a habit from his search-and-rescue days. One hundred yards from his tent. Easy to measure. Easy to track.

By morning, it's seventy yards away.

By the next evening, fifty.

And by the time Charlie understands what's hunting him, it's already standing beside his tent, dark sap dripping from its bark—sap that smells like copper and burns like venom.
