 Alguna vez Mafalda se preguntó qué sería del mundo sin la música de los Beatles, para responder horrorizada que un lugar mucho peor y más triste, sin duda. Pero el milagro de esa música tiene un día concreto en que inicia, una tarde de 1957, el 6 de julio de ese año, cuando un muchacho de Liverpool, Paul McCartney, llegó a una fiesta de verano en la Iglesia de Woolton. Su mejor amigo, Ivan Vaughan, lo había invitado; Paul lo pensó mucho porque no quería ir, sin embargo lo sedujo la posibilidad de un par de cervezas gratis. Fue allí donde conoció a John Lennon, que cantaba con su grupo, los Quarrymen, en un camión al lado del atrio de la iglesia. Como luego diría el propio Lennon: “Paul tenía talento ––sabía afinar la guitarra–– y yo tenía un grupo: el resto es historia”.
