Stage 17 of the 2024 Vuelta a España. This stage takes us to a new day of medium mountain from the JUAN DE CASTILLO MONUMENT to SANTANDER over a distance of 141.5 km. The route features only two categorized mountain difficulties, both in the first half of the race. The stage was marked by rain, where we learned more about Wout Van Aert's condition. After initial inspections and tests, it's been ruled out that he has a serious injury, and we'll see if he could be ready for the World Championships.
The stage finished in a sprint without differences in the general classification, with an imposing Kaden Groves facing no one who could stop him.
Stage 18 of this 2024 Vuelta a España will take us from Vitoria-Gasteiz to Maeztu-Izki Natural Park. It's a medium mountain stage with almost 180 kilometers of distance.
