• Does Penn State's Defense Understand Jim Knowles' Complex Scheme?
    Oct 24 2025
A lot has gone wrong for Penn State's football team during the 2025 season. The year started with expectations of contending for a national championship. Now, before October is even over, those dreams are dead, along with any chance to win the Big Ten. Their head coach has been fired, and their starting quarterback has been lost for the season with an injury.

One of the things that has caused issues in State College this fall is the difficulty the defense is seemingly having in adapting to new defensive coordinator Jim Knowles' complex scheme.

In this episode of the Buckeyes TomOrrow Morning podcast, you'll hear from interim head coach Terry Smith about what some players on the defense are doing to try to get up to speed with the playbook, and whether there is any chance to speed that process up.

Plus, he discusses whether he's thought about changing playcallers on either side of the ball, where the program is mentally right now, and much more.

  • 4 Things We Learned From Ohio State's 34-0 Win Over Wisconsin
    Oct 19 2025
The Ohio State Buckeyes continue to roll through their 2025 regular season, knocking off Wisconsin, 34-0 to improve to 7-0 on the season.

There was a lot to like from the Buckeyes' perspective, starting with a stunning performance from QB Julian Sayin, who finished 36-for-42 for 393 yards and four touchdowns. WR Carnell Tate added a pair of touchdown receptions, and the Buckeye defense put together four totally impressive quarters, continuing its historically dominating run under defensive coordinator Matt Patricia.

But there were areas for concern as well, including another rough day for the rushing attack, and an uneven performance by the special teams.

Tony Gerdeman of BuckeyeHuddle.com joins host Tom Orr to recap it all on this episode of the Buckeyes TomOrrow Morning podcast.
