    On this episode of Briefing with the Chief, we will be joined by Pierce County Washington Sheriff Keith Swank. Washington State is a Sanctuary State and refuses to work with ICE. Swank is challenging the law, stating it is unconstitutional. We will discuss his efforts in Pierce County and get is thoughts on the Trump Administrations efforts to deport migrants, who are in the country illegally.
    Prior to being election Sheriff of Pierce County, Swank was 33 Year veteran of the Seattle Police Department. While serving as a Captain on SPD, he was charge with dismantling and dispersing makeshift structures and persons who made up the autonomous zone in downtown Seattle call the Chop/Chaz. This was a Cop free zone that developed after the death of George Floyd. It was set up by “protesters” and rioters.

    George Soros funded organizations have made an unprecedented investment in Texas to turn the State towards Democrats. This effort has been ongoing for nearly a decade, at the local level in Texas. Large Counties in Texas that include the Cities of San Antonio, Houston, and Austin have progressive prosecutors. Their campaigns were largely funded by Soros backed organizations. These Cities have experienced an increase in crime and disorder because of these progressive prosecutors.
    The Lone Star State is fighting back. One of the organizations leading the fight for common sense is the Consolidated Law Enforcement Association of Texas, CLEAT. I will be joined by Jennifer Szimanski the Executive Director of CLEAT. We will discuss CLEAT’s efforts in the States Capital in Austin to reduce the prosecutorial discretion of these rogue prosecutors.

She recently reported on several controversies or issues impacting the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD). The LASD is the largest Sheriff’s Department in the Country. Anti-Law Enforcement groups have targets the LASD for over a decade regarding Deputy Tattoos. We will review a recently filed lawsuit addressing this issue.
    A Deputy Sheriff, Trevor Kirk was recently convicted in Federal court for serious charges widely seen as not supported by the evidence. The newly installed US Attorney, Bill Essayli, conducted a review of the case, prior to sentencing. He appealed to the US Federal Court to reduce the conviction from a felony to a misdemeanor. We will discuss this case.
    Finally, we will discuss the increasing number of Deputy involved suicides.

    For the last 20 years, Police “reformers” have advocated for the end of a protection of Law Enforcement from civil liabilities, called Qualified Immunity. Qualified Immunity is a doctrine establish by the Supreme Court of the United States in 1967, which protects government employees for being sued in Civil Court for actions taken within the course and scope of their duties. Most of the efforts to end Qualified Immunity have focused specifically on Law Enforcement.
    On this episode of Briefing with the Chief, I will be joined by Adam Marangell, the General Counsel for the Los Angeles Sheriff Professional Association, LASPA.
