Brice est le fils de Martine. Né en 1969, il a 10 ans lorsque se déroule cet entretien auquel il assiste en intégralité. Brice vit avec Martine et Marc dans leur grand appartement-atelier du 18 rue de la Préfecture à Nice. Il voit sa maman travailler tous les jours et, en ce moment, c'est le premier panneau du grand « Autoportrait » qu'il voit se remplir chaque jour d'éléments nouveaux. Il a vu aussi sa maman peindre le fabuleux « Hommage au Facteur Cheval » en 1977. Il connait bien la puissance d'imagination de sa maman, mais cela reste encore un peu une énigme pour lui...
