I 1966 skulle Brian Wilson slå The Beatles. Han skulle lage "en tenåringssymfoni til Gud". Resultatet var SMiLE. For å lage det, bygget han en strand i stua , tvang musikere til å tygge grønnsaker , og satte fyr på studioet. Prosjektet kollapset, og Brian Wilson forsvant inn i seg selv i tiår.
