About this listen

Christal Badour

Dr. Christal Badour — Trauma Psychologist, Professor, Speaker and Founder of Science for Survivors | Because trauma was never your whole story.

Dr. Christal Badour is a licensed clinical psychologist, trauma researcher, and consultant who has dedicated her career to understanding how people recover from trauma, and how science can make that recovery faster, fuller, and more compassionate.

Drawing on her combined experience as a researcher, clinician, and consultant, she focuses on bringing the science of trauma recovery into real-world practice. As a professor at the University of Kentucky and founder of Science for Survivors, Dr. Badour bridges cutting-edge research with the lived experiences of people finding their way forward after trauma. Her work focuses on post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), sleep disturbance, substance use, and the ways trauma reshapes not only the mind and body but also a person’s sense of safety, connection, and meaning.

Dr. Badour provides trauma-focused therapy to adult survivors of violence, war, and other traumatic experiences through her national telehealth practice. She also conducts forensic psychological assessments in cases involving trauma-related personal injury, sentencing mitigation, immigration relief, and other legal contexts where accurate trauma assessment matters most.
