Prepare to have your heartstrings pulled, because this episode opens in a pediatric cancer ward. Deputy Director Sam Cullen's young daughter, Amy, has mysteriously developed lung cancer after receiving a bone graft from a 60-year-old, instead of a much younger and healthier donor. Booth and Brennan chase down the reason and discover that Amy is not the only victim. Meanwhile, Angela grows closer to Amy, who wants to fall in love before she dies. Excitement and pirate accents infect the whole team, spreading like the syphilis the deceased had a bad case of. Before you can say “shiver me timbers” Hodgins uncovers the rest of the skeleton, a mayor shows up dressed as a pirate, and a millionaire finds his way to the Jeffersonian. At the time, this episode was not a cast favorite, but who doesn't love a little pirate pun, here and tharrrrrr?
