Today Show cohost Craig Melvin joins us for a conversation around being dad, hosting the Today Show, his brand new book "I'm Proud of You," and of course.....Hootie....and more! Oh, and sadly Ryan couldn't make this one. He was definitely missed! Just don't tell him that - he'll get a big head about it.

Other things you might (ok, actually WILL) hear on the podcast...

"You’ve left your mark; one might say, your stain."

    "It’s like you’re eating a fruity cloud."

"I think a lot of the ills in society can be resolved with a little empathy and a little grace."

You can probably guess which one came from Craig.

Also, Alyssa shares some nutritional secrets and Jeremy somehow resists the temptation to joke about his dead dad. Aren't you proud?

Things you might (ok, actually WILL) hear on the podcast...

"For a number of years I thought lemon desserts were for old people. Turns out I'm a big, big fan."

"We'll give you $45 an hour in hugs."

"I went to the bathroom and everything changed."

Ryan talks about going to the bathroom (right?), Alyssa shares about her newly found love (here's a hint: it involves lemons) and Jeremy talks about Milli Vanilli (not really sure why though).

We also have segments again! "I wish...", "the Bible verse I've been jamming on is..." and "my favorite...."

Things you might (ok, actually WILL) hear on the podcast....

"I would like for Frosted Mini Wheats to not get soggy after 10 seconds. I wish that they made them differently so they could not taste like crap after 6 bites."

"Here’s what I wish. Bottom golf. Where you’re at the bottom of a big quarry and you have to be able to hit it out of the quarry."

"I'm gonna be the first council person to have 2 running mates."

Ryan shares his dream of a breakfast restaurant that's open at night (original, huh?), Alyssa shares her favorite coffee creamer flavor (slow news day), and Jeremy goes off about some area stoplights (first world problems).

We also have segments again! "I wish...," "the Bible verse I've been jamming on is...," and "my favorite....."

  • Author, Speaker, Podcaster Eric Brooker
    Feb 27 2024

Things you might (ok, actually WILL) hear on the podcast....

“God is everywhere - you don’t have to pull him out of a pouch.”

“Where there are 2 or more celebrities he (God) is there.”

“I don’t talk to my dad. Cause he’s dead. Super dead.”

She's alive!! Alyssa made it back from Serialkillerville, Iowa unscathed! Or at least an AI version of her did. We're not totally sure which. Our segment Pierce's pouch makes a comeback, albeit brief. And Jeremy talks about being a dad of a college kid, which doesn't seem possible given his maturity level.

Most importantly our guest, Eric Brooker joins us to talk about (among other things) his recent book release, You are Enough: Overcoming Lifelong Doubts of Worthiness. It's an incredible read that I HIGHLY recommend, as he shares some crazy personal stories that are sure to impact you in an awesome way. Be sure to check out his podcast Counsel Culture and catch him at one of his speaking gigs! It really doesn't even matter what he's speaking about because he loves Darius Rucker. That's all you need to know.

You can learn more about Eric at https://www.ericbrooker.com/.

-If we release this and you get murdered we’re gonna look really dumb.

    -Your poop cycles are synced.

-I wish there was a really not weird way to be friends with Caitlin Clark.

If you know us then that surprises none of you.

Alyssa talks about her girls trip to middle of nowhere Iowa (what could possibly happen?), Ryan talks about pouch (you just have to listen) and Jeremy talks LifePlans. And other than that, we have SEGMENTS!  You'll have to listen to find out what they are though.

  • Jenn Johnson of Bethel Music
    Apr 25 2023

In what seems like deja vu, Alyssa gives an update on potty training with child #2 (no pun intended), Ryan talks about what it's like to be married for 2 years to Anna (we're praying for you, Anna!!) and Jeremy.....well he was going to talk about stuff too but ran out of time (lucky you).

And Jenn is....incredible. A true gem to have on the pod. She shares some amazing relationship advice, talks about her book All Things Lovely, songwriting, Bethel Music and what it's like being married to the singer from AC/DC. Or maybe that's a different Brian Johnson? We never got around to talking about Hootie but if I know anything about Jenn it's that her taste in music is impeccable and I'm quite confident that Hootie is her favorite band.

Lastly, if prayer is your thing then be sure to listen to the end of Jenn's conversation. Pretty special.

  • Pastor Mike Housholder
    Feb 21 2023

We apologize in advance that this episode is a bit longer than normal, but hey it's just as (if not more!) awesome as the others. Ironically at around  1 hour 15 minutes it's the same length of a service at our church, Lutheran Church of Hope, of which our guest is the pastor. We promise this wasn't planned. As far as you know anyway.

Ryan takes the plunge and shares, or rather Pastor Mike shares Ryan's story about flushing his cynicism away and how he found God while sitting on a toilet and had his sins wiped away. LOTS of puns intended. Alyssa  talks about the tug between work and home and Jeremy's audio kinda sucks. He's sorry.

And our guest Pastor Mike is phenomenal as always. Other than disappointing Jeremy in his responses regarding Hootie he still brings fire while talking about Hope, his faith, MJ vs Lebron and more, and is kind enough to oblige Jeremy in a hilarious (at least we thought so) game that you don't want to miss.

  • Sprint car champ & American Ninja Warrior McKenna Haase
    Jan 18 2023

Ryan gives Alyssa and Jeremy some lessons in veganism and we all probably spend too much time talking about vegan stuff, Alyssa talks mac n cheese and baptisms and Jeremy shares a bit about his word and goals for the year. So yeah - that all goes together, right?

And while we love our guest McKenna Haase, it started off on a sour note for Jeremy when he asked her what her favorite Hootie & the Blowfish song is and she responded with "I don't know what that is." Other than Hootie, 25 year old McKenna talks about her incredible racing experiences, what it was like to be on American Ninja Warrior (twice!), training with NFL players and more!
