• The Emotional Christian | The Subtle Danger of Being Spiritually Immature | Bible, Bros, & Brew
    Mar 16 2026

God gave us emotions to help us interact with and respond to the world around us, but He never meant for us to be governed by our emotions. The more emotionally driven your actions and responses are, the more likely you're going to end up doing or saying things that you'll regret later! In this episode, David, Jon & Phil examine the vital importance of Paul's admonishment in Ephesians 4:11-14, including providing some much-needed clarity as to the purpose of the spiritual gifts (apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor, & teacher) that God gave to the Body of Christ. The bros also hammer home the importance of not being "children, tossed to and fro with every wind of doctrine", emphasizing the need to make the Word of God the sole foundation upon which your spiritual life rests. As you can imagine, a topic like this requires a good cup of coffee or tea to really help get the gears turning, so be sure to brew up your favorite beverage and join us as we navigate through some of the trickier scriptural terrain.

  • The Emotional Christian | Week 1 | Bible, Bros, & Brew
    Mar 10 2026

One of the most insidious issues plaguing the church today is an over-reliance upon emotions instead of the Word of God. There seems to be a trend of neglecting any actual teaching and exposition of the Word in favor of whatever can tickle people's ears, or whatever can draw a big crowd. While this type of approach can provide some temporary entertainment, it falls short in terms of providing people with the spiritual nourishment they need to actually build their lives on a solid foundation. In this episode, David, Jon, and Phil take a journey through the scriptures to discover what God's Word says about the importance of recognizing and avoiding false teachings, emotional hype, and outright deception, so that we as believers can strengthen our spiritual walk with genuine clarity and understanding. So grab your Bible, brew up your favorite coffee or tea, and let's find out what God's Word has to say about this vital topic!

  • I'm Over It | The Danger of Complaining | Bible, Bros, & Brew
    Feb 23 2026

It's so easy to find things to complain about--in fact, it's one of the most common (and unfortunate) tendencies of our human nature. Interestingly enough, complaining is also one of the first things we tend to do when we're feeling "over it all" due to the stresses and pressures of life. While it might be convenient to view complaining as just a way to vent or blow off steam, it's quite instructive to examine the scriptures to discover how God views complaining, and to seriously consider what He thinks about complaining. Spoiler alert: It's not great. In this episode, David, Jon and Phil discuss the fascinating story of Moses in Numbers 11, where he was challenged with dealing with the constant complaints of the people he was leading through the wilderness. Through this example (and other key verses), we learn the damage that complaining can do, not the least of which is the self-inflicted wounds it can cause. So grab your Bible and brew up your favorite cup of coffee or tea, and let's explore the Word together!

  • I'm Over It | The Danger of Forgetting What God Has Done for You | Bible, Bros, and Brew
    Feb 16 2026

Many times we focus on the disappointments in life, the things that didn't go our way, the times we didn't get what we wanted, etc., and unfortunately those negative experiences can color our perception in a way that causes us to become ungrateful or even bitter. This complaining, ungrateful attitude was one of the biggest issues that God had to deal with over & over again with the Israelites in wilderness. A lack of proper perspective--e.g., focusing only on the negative and forgetting all that God has done for you--can lead to a hard heart. In this episode, David, Phil, Jon, and a very special guest discuss the importance of maintaining a proper perspective to keep from slipping into bitterness and disillusionment. So grab your coffee (or tea) and your Bible and a good notebook, and join us as we explore God's Word together!

  • I'm Over It | What Are You REALLY Angry About? | Bible, Bros, & Brew
    Feb 9 2026

There are times in life when we might walk around feeling an undercurrent of anger in our hearts, but we might not even know why. Have you ever felt an underlying sense of anger, but couldn't quite put your finger on the reason? One thing is for sure--the anger didn't come out of nowhere. Interestingly enough, many mental health professionals consider anger to be a secondary emotion, often a by-product of deeper emotions (i.e., hurt, fear, disappointment, sadness, etc.) that are more difficult to pinpoint. While anger is not a sinful emotion (hey, even God gets angry), it can lead to negative outcomes if not properly identified and dealt with scripturally. In this episode, David, Phil, & John explore the fascinating account of Jonah, focusing on how the Lord mercifully dealt with Jonah's disobedience and anger, as well as some other scriptures that provide valuable perspective on how to deal with frustration and disappointment. So go ahead and brew up your favorite cup of joe, grab your Bible and a good notebook, and join us as we journey into the Word together!

    Feb 2 2026

We've all been there: Yep, we're talking about those moments where you feel completely burned out and just generally over it all. No matter how you categorize or label it--i.e., spiritual exhaustion, burnout, disillusionment, etc.--the symptoms are pretty much the same: A sense of discouragement, feeling jaded, battling an attitude of indifference, and other spiritual or emotional maladies that can really hinder our progress. While it's normal to experience these feelings every now and then, we have to be vigilant in terms of not letting them take root in our minds or hearts, as they can ultimately derail our journey with God over time.

📖 In this episode, David, Phil, & John explore several scriptures that address this very issue, which is proof positive that these types of feelings and temptations were just as common to the believers back then as they are to us now. So let's take heart in the encouragements and rock-solid principles offered by God's Word in regard to battling disillusionment and burnout. Make sure to grab your Bible and a good cup of brew (coffee or tea), and join us as we dig into the Word to discover these awesome spiritual treasures!

  • I'm Over It - Walking Away from God? | Week 2 | Bible, Bros, & Brew
    Jan 26 2026

Has church hurt affected how you think of God? As much as we might not like to admit it, this is one of the unfortunate effects that can occur when we've been hurt, mistreated, or offended by other members of the Body of Christ. While it's inevitable that offenses will happen (Jesus even told us so in Matthew 18:7), we must be careful to not allow those offenses to affect us to the point where we develop a root of bitterness in our hearts. In this episode, David, Phil, & John discuss the domino effect that church hurt can cause, and they share some key tips to help believers stay the course when offense and hurt tempt us to do otherwise. So grab your Bible and brew up your favorite cup of coffee (or tea), and join us as we dig into the Word together!
