Seguiremo, in particolare, il lento sgretolarsi – da Schubert a Čajkovskij, passando per Brahms – del paradigma ottimistico fissato da Beethoven con i suoi finali, e culminato nell’ode Alla gioia della Nona Sinfonia. Mahler e il Novecento saranno invece un’altra storia: a sgretolarsi sarà proprio l’idea della musica come “linguaggio”.
