• National League wins historic 2025 All-Star Game, Cal Raleigh crowned Home Run Derby champ
    Jul 16 2025

2025's edition of the Mid-Summer Classic turned out to be a first of its kind on Tuesday night. At the center of it was a player who is no stranger to the dramatic. The NL jumped out to a 6-0 lead heading into the seventh inning, but the AL came storming back. The game remained tied at the end of nine innings. The result turned out to be the first ever home run swing-off. Each team had three batters with three swings each. Whoever hit the most home runs was to be declared the winner. Down two home runs, the Phillies Kyle Schwarber hit a hat-trick of home runs to give the NL the win. Schwarber was named the MVP. Jake and Jordan talk about the electric finish to the night.

The game's end was not the only highlight of the night. MLB showed out in style in the ATL, including a red carpet entrance earlier in the day. Three home runs, before the swing-off, Kershaw mic'd up while pitching, the ABS challenge system being used, and Misiorowski entering in the eighth are just a few of the many standout moments from the game. Jake and Jordan discuss everything that happened at Truist Park.

Tuesday night was not the only night of drama this week. Monday night's Home Run Derby lived up to its billing, but the winner was not who everyone expected. The man who leads the MLB in home runs, but was not the favorite in the Derby, came away with the win. Cal Raleigh put on a show after barely making it out of the first round. It was a family affair with Raleigh's brother catching and his dad pitching. Jake and Jordan both did not pick 'The Big Dumper' to win, but they discuss his impressive Home Run Derby performance.
From Truist Park, get the immediate All-Star Game reaction from the guys on this episode of Baseball Bar-B-Cast.

  • All-Star pitching controversy, MLB Draft reactions & weekend recap
    Jul 14 2025

The All-Star festivities are already underway in Atlanta, and there has been no lack of drama leading up to Tuesday night's main event. With rosters in flux as players drop out of the game, the latest conversation is around who has been selected to be on the mound. The Brewers' Jacob Misiorowski was named to the NL All-Star team as an injury replacement. Misiorowski has only pitched 25.2 innings in the majors; the fewest innings a pitcher has ever pitched and been named to an All-Star team. That being said, having an ERA of 2.81 and allowing only 12 hits, 8 runs and striking out 33 in those 25.2 innings is pretty impressive. Is five starts enough to justify an All-Star appearance? MLB seems to think so, as they look for who will draw the most eyes Tuesday night, but the players seem to have taken exception to this selection. Jake and Jordan discuss everything surrounding the drama and give their takes.

Some more news about who will be on the mound was announced over the weekend as we found out the All-Star pitching starters. Pittsburgh Pirate Paul Skenes and Detroit Tiger Tarik Skubal are set to face-off in Atlanta on Tuesday. This matchup has provided a lot less controversy and a lot more excitement than the Misiorowski drama. Jake and Jordan talk about what they expect to see from this matchup and how the selection process went down.

We got to see MLB's future on and off of the field this weekend. Not only did the MLB Futures Game happen, which the guys chat about, but the first round of the 2025 MLB Draft took place on Sunday. The Washington Nationals selected Eli Willits, a 17-year-old shortstop, with the first overall pick. The drama did not stop there and our draft guru, Jordan, breaks down all the highlights and takeaways from the first day of the draft.

Finally, non-All Star related MLB games were played this weekend. The Red Sox mopped the Rays, the Mariners swept the Tigers and the Brewers swept the Nationals. The guys fill you in on all the highlights from a packed weekend in baseball.

Plus, Paul Konerko received a signed White Sox jersey from the Pope.

Coming to you from Atlanta; it's the Baseball Bar-B-Cast.

  • Home Run Derby predictions & MLB Draft preview
    Jul 11 2025

The 4th of July has passed, but there will be some fireworks in Atlanta in just a few days as one of the most electrifying events in baseball takes center stage. The Home Run Derby. A stacked field will arrive at Truist Park ready to put on a show. The eight contestants consist of Cal Raleigh, James Wood, Junior Caminero, Byron Buxton, Brent Rooker, Jazz Chisholm Jr., Oneil Cruz and Ronald Acuña Jr. Jake and Jordan have been bursting with excitement for this year's Derby, and now they break down the field and ultimately pick a winner.

While those home run hitters are preparing to show off their power, the next great home run hitters might be waiting to hear their names called as the MLB Draft is just a couple of days away. The Washington Nationals have the number one pick, and coming off of a recent franchise overhaul, with the firing of their long-time GM and manager, they hope to take someone who will help carry them into the future. Jake and Jordan discuss this and chat about names to look out for in the 2025 MLB Draft.

MLB has announced its top-20 highest selling jerseys, and to no one's surprise, Shohei Ohtani is at the top of that list. What is surprising is where some other players landed, including those who didn't make or fell off of the list.

Last, but surely not least, everyone's favorite segment of the week is here. The Good, The Bad & The Uggla. Steve Cohen has taken to twitter again, Justin Verlander has a very unfortunate stat on the year and an epic playlist are some of the highlights from this week's segment.

Close out your week with us as we are in Atlanta for the next few episodes of Baseball Bar-B-Cast.

  • Dodgers & Blue Jays streaking in different ways, All-Star Week updates & Bryson Stott interview
    Jul 9 2025

The Los Angeles Dodgers went into Tuesday night riding a four-game losing streak, hoping that Clayton Kershaw could get them back into the win column to calm fans’ nerves. However, it was the Milwaukee Brewers’ young buck Jacob Misiorowski who outdueled the future Hall of Famer, handed LA another loss and started to raise some concerns among the Dodger Blue faithful.

Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman discuss why they’re not overly concerned about the Dodgers’ recent play and what big problem does worry them if it’s not fixed by the postseason. They then dive into the extremely impressive 10-game winning streak by the Toronto Blue Jays, leaving them one win shy of tying their franchise record that now sees them alone at the top of the AL East.

Later in this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake and Jordan are joined by Philadelphia Phillies second baseman Bryson Stott to talk about his time in Philly, taking pride in being a batter who sees a lot of pitches and why it might take a little while for Las Vegas to catch onto baseball. The guys then close the show by discussing the home run race between Aaron Judge and Cal Raleigh, before sharing some insights on the 2025 Futures Game and Home Run Derby.

  • Clayton Kershaw reaches 3000, All-Star Game starters reaction + AL East drama
    Jul 3 2025

On Wednesday night, Clayton Kershaw made baseball history, becoming only the 20th pitcher in MLB history to reach the 3,000 career strikeout mark. The future Hall of Famer entered the night three strikeouts away from the milestone, and he reached the plateau in front of his family and the Los Angeles Dodgers’ faithful fans.

Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman discuss the historical significance of this achievement by Kershaw and why it always felt inevitable that he would reach the mark. They also debate whether Gerrit Cole, Chris Sale or any other active starter might ever reach 3,000 strikeouts or if this could be the last time we see it happen in the game.

Also on this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake and Jordan react to the starting lineups for the American and National League All-Star teams, discuss the New York Yankees’ continued struggles that now see them tied atop the AL East with the Toronto Blue Jays and answer some of your mailbag questions. The guys then make their weekly picks for The Good, The Bad & The Uggla.

  • Remembering Dave Parker, Mets get swept & a weekend recap
    Jun 30 2025

33 years after his retirement, Dave 'The Cobra' Parker finally got the news that he would be inducted into baseball's Hall of Fame. Saturday, less than a month away from being able to attend his Hall of Fame induction, baseball lost its giant. The six-foot five-inch slugger left an indelible mark on the game. Parker won an MVP, back-to-back hitting titles, three Gold Gloves and two World Series. The 7-time All-Star finished with 2,712 hits and a 40.1 career WAR. Jake and Jordan remember the legend.

The Mets' struggles continue as they suffer their worst series loss in team history. Losing by a combined score of 30-4 over the three game series, the Mets get swept by the Pirates without Paul Skenes. New York remains only 1.5 games back in the NL East, but does a players only meeting and a consistent lack of offense spell trouble as they prepare to meet up with the Brewers this week? The guys dive into this matchup and look ahead for the Mets. However, this was not the only sweep of the weekend as Jake and Jordan discuss the other two sweeps as well. They break down the Cardinals' sweep of the Guardians and the Marlins' sweep of the Diamondbacks in the latest version of 'How Sweep It Is.'
