About this listen

Our guest today is Joan Irvine, an author, Doctor of Clinical Hypnotherapy, Cannabis Advocate and Educator and a Community Leader in Redondo Beach whose mantra is: Baby Boomers Still Rock! There are numerous stigmas and myths surrounding the sexuality of the Boomer crowd, with a prevalent misconception that they do not have sex. Also, many doctors overlook the importance of addressing women's sexuality as they age; in fact sadly - at any age. But not Dr. Joan. She’s swooped in like some boomer sex superhero and has been at it - addressing womens sexuality — since the 1960s when she developed a sex education course at the University of Kansas. In the late 1980s, she served as an educator for Masters and Johnson and even worked as a matchmaker in Beverly Hills. In 1990, she authored a workbook on menopause titled "Taking Charge of Your Changes," recognizing the importance of addressing menopause as a sexual transition in womens lives. She also co-authored the book "Recipes for Hot Sex: The Book For A Spicy Sex Life...Just Add Love."
In the 2000s, Dr. Joan embarked on a new direction, this time focusing on online child protection. Since her efforts were funded by the adult entertainment industry, she gained an interesting insight into sexuality. This eye-opening experience further enriched her knowledge and understanding of sexual dynamics.
Dr. Joan has made many public appearances, sharing her insights on various television, radio, and internet programs including "The View" with Barbara Walters. She has spoken at numerous conferences, including the prestigious California Governor's Conference for Women and was recently the guest on the Friends of the Farm Lecture Series "Sex, Drugs, and Getting Older."
